Thats going to look great

My 11 year old son has just said "definately black rivets"

So there you go

Nice bit of fabrication there!

Id say silver- then they dont look as obovious at first glance.

That looks really smart.
Personally I'd go for ali, but get rid of the bit of glass between pipe 1& 2.

Nice to see the use of blue wrap again.

stainless steel button head bolts with nylock nuts on the back

button heads less chance of fracturing the glass if you rivet it put washers underneath the bonnet

Weld the holes up And glue it on with Sikaflex

RichardK - 26/2/11 at 09:22 PM

Its stainless mesh thats covering the teardrop, defo not glass..

Jacko I'm a bit sensitive about welding ali at the moment

I think he means the bit of GRP that is hanging down between your exhaust headers

RichardK - 26/2/11 at 09:46 PM

Ah, thats me not thinking as its a homemade ali bonnet, will be taking that bit off anyway.

Makes sense now!

Confused but excited. - 26/2/11 at 10:45 PM

Personally I think the black rivets would look cool with the black bonnet.

ReMan - 27/2/11 at 08:04 AM

Ali. Bear in mind tne black will soon come off anyway if your a polisher

That looks sweet. Good fabrication. How did you get the radius's (radii?) so perfect?

RichardK - 27/2/11 at 11:42 AM

Just took a bit of time drawing it out and used hole saws, then essentially cut from hole to hole with the jig saw. The hole saws I use were Lidl ones that come up now and again and are very good bi metal quality ones.
