Windscreen progress!
David Jenkins - 6/3/10 at 05:12 PM

After grumbling about the grim weather, I finally managed to get out into the garage to work on my windscreen. Spent an hour wresting with the frame, rubber seal and glass and finally got it together.

The rubber's not trimmed, and it's just been put in place temporarily, but it's cheered me up no end!

Right pull the rubber ears out straight and let them relax. Then take a sharp knife and cut at the angle intersected with the upright.
perfect

Looks good...

I know most won't believe me considering the lengths I've previously always gone to, to save weight, but if I ever have another 7 on the road, it would be with a screen and all weather gear...

looks very good, nice and neat, is that a diy frame or bought, if diy, where did u buy the materials from, is that screws comming through the frams 4 fixing supports 2, sorry 4 the questions, am looking into fitting 1 to mine, thanks .

David Jenkins - 6/3/10 at 09:49 PM

The frame and supports came from Mango (a couple of posts above). The frame is held on with 4 studs each side - they have thinned heads to clear the glass - which stick out of the frame. Domed nuts hold everything secure.

I started off trying to make my own, but found out that it's nowhere near as easy as they suggest in the book.

Looks very sharp. It would have been nice to have Mango build one, but he WOULDN'T DO IT FOR ME. Of course, I am always happy to accept nothing but words from the very nice people in Scotland, not to forget those kind souls in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

You are a bit far away though...

RK - 7/3/10 at 01:48 PM

Soooooo? Everything is far away from my perspective. Depends on how big your geographical reality is.

David Jenkins - 7/3/10 at 05:06 PM

Very philosophical!
