my mate's just got a new bonnet for his car, as the one thats on there is the wrong colour, he'd asked me to spray it before, but decided to get one the right colour instead. he's got this one

but still needs a spray.

whats the best way to approach it?

600grit paper, primer, and a few coats of colour?

600grit paper the straight on with the colour?

i told him not to expect perfect results, but i'm looking at taking this on as a personal challenge and get the best result i can.

sorry should have mentioned it a standard pressed steel bonnet for a corse, with fibreglass vent, stuck on, and presumably had the join filled with filler.

so won't be spraying on gel coat (well, perhaps the vent is in gel coat, but i expect its all been painted before)
