Hi guys,
I'm after a picture of how a wheel arch mount is attached to the hub, I have turned mine in a million different ways and can;t get my head round
it.
I can only assume I need some sort of inch long spacers or something...
a picture would be most helpful if anyone would be kind enough?
Thanks!
if i remember rightly, (and remember i've never built a 7, and had cycle wings) but i'm sure you use the brake caliper bolts, and the top ball joint nut?
I used to have a Westfield SE and the stays were mounted like blakep82 says, but on my ST and lots of other cars I've seen with Cortina hubs the
stays are mounted to the three unused dust cover bolt holes with longer bots and spacers. Here's a pic of mine - they are a bit different from
the nomal design but fit in the same way

Ours are totally tubular. They worked out very well and are very stiff. We also machined the flats into the upright around the holes so that the stay
could be monuted squarely.

Thanks humbug, I have exactly that shaped backplate as shown in picture 3, what I dont have is the any spacers or bolts.... like the rest shown in
picture 3
you wouldn't have any dims by any chance? or even the bolt size and pitch would be a big help - I could just use washers to mock up the spacers
for now, held together with a little tape for ease.
Thanks in advance!

I think the bolts are standard M8, but I had to clean out the holes with a tap to get the bolts to go in! The length of the spacers will depend on the
offset of your sheels - mine are about 25-30mm.
To fix them in I had:
bolt head
washer
triangle mounting plate
washer
spacer made from steel tubing
washer
thanks humbug - that is a big help.
cheers
Cant explain in words (dam french red )
Hope you can see the bolt (SVA cover yet to fall off) and the nylock, much easier than tubes etc and easily adjustable.

Nick
I used a washer, and an oversized nut (10mm?) as a spacer. Seemed perfect when fitting....
Like others, I had to make three spacers per side out of 10mm steel tube. Note: in order to get even spacing between stays and tyre sidewall, they
were of different lengths.
I bought the tube from my local B&Q.
