Picture is a real camel spider, description is wildly inaccurate.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Look at the sleeve on the right hand side of the picture to give you some perspective. The link says the spiders grow to 5" or 6" leg span. Not a couple of feet as they first appear in this shot.

Aye camel spiders. Encountered loads of these bastards whilst in Iraq myself. 5"-6" is more realistic. They don't gnaw arms or legs off and I believe from speaking to a man that got bitten that it is very painful and not numbed at all. They are double hard though. A fella working with us hit one square on from the top with the end of a brush handle, directly down and it just shrugged it off. They can run fast too.
Loads of wierd and nasty shits over there. Used to be a kind of fly that bit, numbed then kinda pulled a small cork shape out of your leg usually. First you knew was loads of blood.

Ugh. Anyone seen the Phil Jupitus sketch on spiders? That's me that is.
