its got a reserve on it anyway, so 99p isnt going to win it.

If it had just been serviced (500 miles ago), why did it not have any oil in it?

Oil leak i'm guessing, but thats quite a lot of oil to leak out!

so if this part right ( it had a new timing chain and full service only 500 miles ago ) where did all the oil go then

More like where did the mechanic go who I'd be asking why the engine failed after he'd replaced the timing chain (and presumably serviced it). Did he forget to refill the oil, leave the sump plug out, not tighten the filter etc.
