Stoneleigh springs to mind. That tyre could quite easily have come out the back or side into the crowd, taking some poor little lads head off.

Kindest Regards,

you say that like it's a bad thing;

if the little lads grow up like the adults, which is highly likely, then I say go for it!!

Didn't they test that on Mythbusters? Something about a wagon tyre exploding and decapitating a biker...

Not saying it's not possible to be hit in the face with a big chunk of rubber though

Here's another reason why I don't do it myself.

Just watched it now and there's one problem.

That tyre broke across the tread. Where's the steel belting? Do they not have basic technology like that over there?

If it did I'd be suing the tyre makers cos it's not supposed to break like that, and I've tried to cut them!

Notice that only one tyre was spinning, so it would be going twice as fast as normal. It wouldn't be difficult to significantly exceed the tyres maximum speed and coupled with a lot of heat a catastrophic failure would seem quite likely.

Yeah but my point is that the failure would be along the sidewall not across the tread. All depends if they have steel belting in america

The forces on the belting would be enormous at say, 200mph.
