Carry on from the "billion" post...

Heard on the news on the way back from work that out national debt is 799 billion!!!!!

They went on to say that the amount is equivilent to borrowing 1.1 million every day since the birth of christ!!!

These days we throw these numbers about without any true understanding of just how big they are.

Take 1 million £1 coins and start counting them one at a time... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and so on. How long do you think you'd be at it before you finished?

At one per second (easy at first but not once you get into the 100000's), it'd take 11 1/2 days!
...thats without stopping for food, drink or sleep.

And when they're all bagged up and I take them to the bank they'll check it and find £999,972...
