Geminids meteor shower

I know a few people on this forum are interested in meteor showers...

There's one due tonight, starting to appear around 8:00pm and at their peak after 10:00pm. I've just been out for a look and only saw a couple in 10 minutes - at the peak they're expecting 1 or 2 a minute.

Assuming that you have clear skies, of course! It's cold outside too, so wrap up warm.

Quite a show, although they were difficult to see with all the zillions of house decoration Xmas lights.

Mmmmm, I must get a time switch.

Cheers

Sulk...

I went out and had a look at 9pm - only saw a few.

Went back out at 10:30 - clouds everwhere!

Supposed to happen again tonight, 10pm onwards as before, but the forecast isn't good...

About 8 or so years ago I went out side to see the Leonids shower, as it turned out it was very spectacular with huge green fireballs coming up over the North sea and right over head trailing what looked like red sparks behind them. They averaged around 100 in just 2 minutes and when I got down to the local beach to stand on the sand dunes it appeared half the village had done the same. Was truly stunning and a day earlier than predicted on the TV. Haven't seen one close to that since
