SV cable

Evening,
Do these give you a better picture quality than the standard AV red, yellow and white leads?? Should mention its for a mini DV camcorder.
Reason being just bought a new TV and has this capability and the old man birthday is comming up so should keep him happy for months!!!

Thanks in advance

John

Do you mean S-Video, which uses the small 4 pin connector? This connection separates the luminance and chroma signals which eliminates some artefacts that composite is prone to such as dot crawl. However, the bandwidth is the same, so apart from removal of the artefacts, you probably won't get any more detail in the picture.

Short answer; yes it's a bit better, but not a great improvement.
