A little known fact....
The first testicular guard (box) was used in cricket in 1874

and the first helmet was used in 1974.

It took 100 years for cricketsmen to realise that their brains could also be important ....

it hurts a damn sight less when you get hit in the head! a corker to the nuts will floor the sternest of gentlemen

We still haven't managed to make a cd/dvd/small electronic item wrapper that can be opened without the aid of a knife.

Can heartily agree with this sentiment having taken a ball from the same bowler in both locations.

Blow to the head = lump on noggin and headache.

Blow to the box(yes i was wearing one) = watering eyes weak legs sick in stomach and turned into a smallholder (a couple of achers ) and several minutes of hard swallowing to get them back down. Next ball was played from square leg

Might spill the tea if hit without protection. They evidently went through a few pots before thinking about reducing wastage, hence protection was introduced.
