This sign is apparently at a campsite in British Columbia.


Due to the frequency of human-bear encounters, the B.C. Fish and Wildlife Branch is advising hikers, hunters, fishermen and any persons that use the out of doors in a recreational or work related function to take extra precautions while in the field.
We advise the outdoorsman to wear little noisy bells on their clothing so as to give advance warning to any bears that might be close by so you don't take them by surprise.
We also advise anyone using the out-of-doors to carry "Pepper Spray" with him in case of an encounter with a bear.
Outdoorsmen should also be on the watch for fresh bear activity, and be able to tell the difference between black bear feces and grizzly bear feces. Black bear feces is smaller and contains lots of nuts, berries and squirrel fur. Grizzly bear poo has bells in it and smells of Pepper!

yep thats the one, my dad showed it to me the other day, he has lots of friends in the states and one of then e-mailed it to him.
I think its great.

Just remember this: they are basically unpredictable.

Black bears are smaller, but often want to eat you. Grizzly bears want to tear you to little pieces, but not necessarily because they'll find you tasty.

Male grizzly bears are to be avoided at all costs. Play dead, etc. I'll watch you do it first. They've been known to eat their own kind.

Black bears are not as territorial, but there are far, far more of them.

Nobody knows really what to do when you have an encounter, because you don't know what THEY will do! All those photographers you see in Alaska or somewhere usually get eaten at some point, so my personal policy is to hope they never come near me.
