hmmm, I wonder if it would have gone further i.e. more aerodynamic, if fired upside down?

FYI - the tradition of being in fir trees into the house started in Germany and they were hung upside down - if memory serves me well, now google it y'all!

I used to work with an Irish girl - her family used to sweep the chimney with their old Christmas tree! Drop a rope down the flue, tie it onto the root-end of the tree and haul it up...

...if they didn't have a tree they'd fire a shotgun up the flue...

Thought the upside down thing was a recent thing, but tree's were certainly popularised in the UK by people copying Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in the 1840's, who were of course following a German tradition.
