just had a barny with my ex over the kids.im having them for the next two weeks and asked to stop my payments to help me out but she wont agree.it's a private agreement between us and i have a standing order.am i right or is this normally calculated for and averaged out over the year ?also does she have to declare this to anyone,ie benefits office etc.I know its a mine field.thanks

Next time you have a barny, call the police and tell them she threaten you, stop the cash then when the CSA call up tell them about it and you won't hear anything...

My ex's new husband had a go at me and I told my CSA person, that was it, never heard another thing until my lovely son tried to stab me....

Child maintenance is supposed to be your contribution towards the cost of keeping those children. Thus if you're having them for 2 weeks you're incurring those costs yourself. Problem is it's not just food and soap you're paying for, it's keeping them in house and clothes and other long term items so not paying her for 2 weeks could put her in debt (not being able to pay this month's mortgage etc).

Would paying half of what you normally pay be fair? Sounds fair to me cos it's not like you're going to have to shell out for clothes and school trips and the like
