Wide Screen Monitors - what do they show??
Thinking of getting a wide screen PC monitor so I can watch movies on my own
How does the widescreen affect the rest of the PC display. Does everything get stretched? And how about gaming, are new games wide screen compatible,
or stretched?

You'll have the options of different display resolutions.
My display is 1900x1028 (or something like that)
Some games will support wider resolutions, others won't.

you just have a larger resolution horizontally, so nothing is streched but you have more space to play with, the taskbar gets longer in the
middle....
ps. game wise i'd say 90% support it, and even the ones that don't - are not *that* bad using a standard resolution and having the monitor
stretch it....

my HP laptop is 1200x800 widescreen. Windows and general computing is fine and as mentioned, you just get more horizontal resolution (space). DVDs
work really well too.

Only thing to watch with games is you need a powerful graphics card to get good framerates out of 1900x1280.
If it's that kind of game you are interested in.

Oh yes, I've got me a 512Mb Asus card - does everything but make the tea
Thanks chaps, that's really useful. There's a new 22" Asus screen out later in the month that looks really good.....

This is what mine shows:
Widescreen
My resolution is 1920x1200 which to be fair is stupidly big but I like it
Widescreen is especially good for when you want to be doing a few things at once - like I can have msn windows doen the right and still see webpages
on the left
