Please, please someone help me. I have Built my MK, restored many classics, managed several companies and now run my own business yet still I cannot get an avatar pic loaded . I have used http://www.fookes.com/ezthumbs/ to resize the pic which is now in my Photo Archive but if I open my Control Panel and edit it will not load onto the avatar. For it drives me insane what have I got to do next

I think it might be a little bit too wide. Try to reduce it a bit more.

I assume you have found where to put the location in your profile.

1 right click on the pic in my post.
A menu will drop down. Click on "save picture as" and name it, at it will save to your pooter.

(A usefull way of saving any pic off any post or site)

Up load to photo archive and you can then add it to your control panel.

Done as instructed copied the new resized picture, pasted it into the avatar url box, pressed edit and still end up with a bl**dy little red cross in a box instead of the pic
<<<<<<Look there, still no pic, is it me??

In your archive it's called marmite locost.jpg (with a space)

Call it marmitelocost.jpg and see if that does the trick.

Sorry but it's time for bed. Up at 6 in the morning. Good luck.

Thanks for your help guys, have tried all of your suggestions, still no luck with it, I am sooooo tired and frustrated I have got to go to bed now. Once again thanks, I am sure it was easier to build the car than get an avatar pic. Barry

The url for the little red box is
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/forum/38/marmite%20locost.jpg

did you paste in the marmite1.jpg image?

That file name above has a % in it which means it had a space in the name. Piccies won't work with a space in the file name which it is why the little red cross box was there.

Good morning, I am determined to see this through, is anybody still with me? It still shows a red cross. If I right click on the cross the properties are shown as http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/forum/38/marmite%20locost.jpg which is the same as I pasted into the slot at the bottom of the edit page. What do I do next or what have I done wrong now please?

Just checking it worked for me? If it did, then an alternative to typing the URL is to click on the pic in the photo archive and copy it's location, then paste it into the avatar location field in control panel.

Cheers Chris

Mark the %20 is web speak for a space.
Looking at what you avatar URL is now it looks like you just have the wrong location:

http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/forum/38/marmite%20locost.jpg

it should be:
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/upload/marmite%20locost.jpg
