Feckin Viruses - HELP NEEDED with Anti-Virus Software
Right guys im proper PI**ED at the moment as i've had to wipe my comp twice in the last three days due to viruses getting into my pc.
all my contacts on my msn have tx me saying that its sending links to viruses and what not, i have uninstalled and re-intalled msn twice and changed
my password but its still happpening.
i currently Avast and Malwarebytes but virues are still getting threw, can any of you recommend me a VERY GOOD Anti Virua and malware protection
program please

Apple mac, bit dearer but worth every penny when it comes to keeping clear of all the virus's everyone throws at microsoft computers

Never tried it myself. Always found AVG, Search+Destroy and Malwarebytes works for me (make sure you run them in Safemode).

I'm surprised you have trouble with avast. i have used it for ages and am still virus free.
is it working properly and updating its virus database?
i think that most of the antivirus programmers share the intel on whats new so if one can detect then they should all detect.

its happening right now, it says potentially harmful detected

just tried to run malwarebytes and its automatically shut the window and stopped the scan!!!!!

^Thats the most expensive way to sort the lads problem out .....1100 quids worth of mac.....surely instead of boasting you could have suggested a way

Not boasting, suffered for many years with similar virus's and the associated issues with them, Avast is one of the best on the market and if
they are getting through that and shutting others down its a trip to the pc clinic...or a trip to the pc store.
The Locost will be fine as money is not a no worries option for me, the Caterham will stay on the shopping list

I got fed up of the odd virus getting through with freeware.
Massive ball ache to reformat the computer everytime.
Switched to Kaspersky now.

at the moment im running in my normal desktop, as im downloading avg antivirus now. when i start up in safe mode i don't have the internet
shaun: uninstalled msn, used windows recover to reinstall windows from a safe starting point, reinstalled msn, then changed password. x2
just ran the msn virus scanner and comes back with no virueses: how did it figure that one out!

You need to re-format the drive and install windows again.
System restore does not account for viruses.

i got this from you about an hour ago and have been getting spam from you for weeks, i did tell you a while ago.

I've not had any trouble at all since installing Kaspersky Internet Security.
Don't pay £49.99 though.
Get the free 30 day trial, then get a key off the bay for a fiver.
Sorted.
Done this successfully for the last couple of years.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

Go into safe mode by pressing F8 as you restart your computer, re-install malwarebytes and run it in safe mode then delete anything it finds.
You've got the same kind of thing it took me 11/2 hours to clear off my mate's computer the other day. He had run an online scan which was
a rogue checker called Security Tool and it shuts down your malware program and anything else you try to remove it. It isn't recognised as a
virus as it is an exe file.

Thing is with that stuff you don't need a password. I don't think you even need to be online.
I use Avira, no problems so far.
I'm sure you can get a 1TB external drive for about £70, might be worth looking into as a backup anyway..

If you've got 500Gb of stuff on one HDD, then you risk loosing it all the time anyway, 1Tb external HDD are on offer at Maplins, about £60 I
think.
