..... if you recall, I bought new Sony 12 Mp camera that took lower quality photos than my old Sony 5 Mp.
Also video was really low res plus to review a photo required moving a slidey switch that almost certainly wold break 2 days after the guarantte ran
out.
Time to reveal, name and shame!!
This is DSC W120 - nice and small but with Sony lens and the above failings.
Took it back to Currys and it was a very painless process to get another camera, Sony DSC W220, £ 10 more.
Initial impressions are it is much better for photos -Zeiss Lens, button to press for review and higher res video. So much happier.
Size wise is the same but being 22m instead of 18 mm thick..... which for my fat hands may work out better.
... but the cable to camera has some stupid multi connnector and doubles up as USB, video, phone grrrrr..... hopefully there is just a USB version.
I'm sure if it's that annoying some cunning fiend in Kong Kong will start flogging single ones on Ebay soon!!
be very careful with the lenses on the sony cameras - they can stick inside the body, damaged by resticting the lense movement (accidently powering it
on whilst its in its case for example). mine was more warranty unfriendly damaged by my 4 year old son dropping it...
bought my DSC-W170 off amazon, lovely looking bit of kit...but crap quality pictures, played with all the settings to try and get a decent picture
that was'nt soft or just plain out of focus now just have a sony paper weight to act as a reminder never to buy a sony camera again!
Sony's expertise is clearly with walkmans!
Buy a camera from a camera manufacturer, Canon for instance

.... I did say I am easily amused, didn't I?
Rescued attachment DSC05006.JPG
I still rate Panasonic (lumix) cameras as the best point and shoot. The ones with the Leica lenses (TZ5 etc) and massive zoom
Once you move into dSLR Canon make the best without a doubt.
Some samples from my pocket size Lumix
No zoom:
Same shot, but max zoom:
And all handheld.
