DIY exhaust collectors.
Anyone building an exhaust ?
Here's a nifty little application.
This allows you to input the required dimensions for a frustrum cone, or cone shaped collector. It then gives you a print out. Cut your steel to
shape, roll it and weld and that's you done.

Not earth shattering, but handy I reckon. Also allows for angled ends and different overall lengths.

I was going to use conical (and then flattened a bit) collectors made from sheet UNTIL I spoke to a professional race exhaust builder, who told me to
make the collectors from tube.
Each 2-1 collector then has no internal edges at all and flows beautifully.
Here's one of mine:
collector 1
you use two 25-35 deg bends, as you can see from the piccy.
THIS LINK
shows nicely how its done.

I made one from sheet a while ago.
See jig pic.
Made a rough cone, 2" one end, 5" the other, and welded the seam.
Put the jig in it and tighten nut.
Tap the flat sides with a hammer and re-tighten nut.
Tap then tighten, tap then tighten.
Cut off surplus at the square end and rub with scotch pad.
Still got the dims wrong though as it needs to be +100mm from the flange. (Epona/ 1.8 Zetec) Bu**er

Is the print out actual size? does it act as a template?
