Dufus Strikes (Again).

Managed to give myself arc-burn (sun-burn) at the weekend welding in a T-shirt.
I'd got away with it enough times in the past to think it was a fairy tale, but it's not.
Wear a shirt people!

For those of you freezing your butt off in the northern hemisphere it's going to be 38 deg C here today, hence the avoidance of heavy overalls.

Hah! - did the same thing myself

Peeling off grimy workshop clothes to hop in the shower and SWMBO (after having already said "don't walk those dirty boots into the house again!" ) says "have you burnt yourself?" Look in mirror to find lovely red bloom across my chest Same reason too - 30+ degrees and 70-80% humidity here on the weekend. Waaaaay too hot for overalls. I've got a few old button up shirts that I used to throw over for welding - I'll have to get back into the habit.

Other than the ray burn, are you making progress Doug?

Progress has slowed dramatically over the last couple of months. We had to move house and where I'm at now I'm operating out of a car port basically so everything needs to be packed back into the house at night.
And I need to rig up some decent lights in there so I can see what the heck I'm doing as its way too dark at the moment.

Then there's been getting the house unpacked and so on...

But I did construct a nice set of shelves in the kitchen at the weekend!

Must be bloody horrible working outside down under, instead of this nice warm and sunny England we have here...

It's not the weather thats the problem, its Gordon Brown

I`ve burnt my legs doing my exhaust in shorts.
Lying in bed was so painful!

I once gave sunburn to a bloke who was watching me through a green glass held up to his face without a full mask to hold it in. It burnt the back of his hand and the bottom half of his face. It's so hot here in Derbyshire I had the A/C recharged on the car today.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

A bit of a solution...

Take one pair cheap welding gauntlets, which aren't any good for TIG as you can't feel enough through the fingers.

cut the fingers and thumb off, then wear over the top of the gloves good for tigging in.

Hey presto a lot more arm covered without sweating to death. Rescued attachment Gloves.jpg
