It's tempting to try and find one 2nd hand on Ebay that's close to you.
The 2nd hand price for engine hoists doesn't really change regardless of how many people have owned it so you can buy it, use it and then sell
it for about the same money. Obviously the only cost would be transporting it so best to buy one locally....

An idea i used (stolen off this forum) was to buy a cheap 1 ton chain hoist from ebay then rig up some 2x2 a frames and a V channel steel bar across
the top.
Been working well for months lifting the engine into the car, lifting the whole front for any work needing to be done and also lifting part of a
broken wall outside when i fixed it for my parents. Easily disassembles for storage. The only thing i coule comment on in lateral stalility but the
fact is ive never even had it nearly topple over.

You could use a few bits of scaffold pole, and some "scaffolding swivel clamps" at the top, then another one to cross brace at the
bottom.
Also it would come apart easily for storage.
I have a chain block (Very controllable) and a hydraulic hoist. The only prob with the hoist, is its limit of reach with the arm, and how far you can
get it under the car.
ie to lift the gearbox in a Landrover, you remove the door and lift the box out throught the floor. However the arm is at full reach, and the crane is
as far unther the vehicle as possible. ie it has limitations.
However, you cant use a chain hoist to do that job as you cant secure it and then slide the box out through the door.
So its horses for courses.
With the 7's you dont have a height restriction ie the roof. So either will do.
Whatever you do end up with, make sure its safe, so you dont damage yourself, or more importantly the Locost

If it's a xflow then get a mate or 2 to help as they are really light!

Don't know if it's any help but Netto had some electric ones a couple of weeks ago at £40.

My local store had about a dozen left at the start of this week reduced to £30, catch is they only lift 250KG
