Shouldnt be difficult with access to a lathe (if you want different sizes). If you only want an M6 one,...it even easier....

Would this work?

A collar with a threaded bar through it. On one end, thread for rivnut. Other end a nut. Screw rivnut onto empty end, upto the collar. Then tighten the nut on the other end to crust the rivnut. Undo the nut, unscrew the stud, and you have one inserted rivnut...

Ahh dammit...see crappy pic...

Cheers

easy peasy

put the rivnut in the hole, Thread a nut onto a bolt of the same size, screw the bolt into the rivnut with a washer between the nut and the rivnut. Holding the bolt with the appropriate sized wrench (spanner for you accross the pond) loosen the nut (so it pushes against the washer/rivnut) and it will draw the rivnut up.

Make Sense?

David.

I made a short video of a very simple riv-nut tool made from bits of scrap laying around my garage. Worked well for the limited number of riv-nuts I had to install.

Man - that's a great vid for something so simple!!

I need to come over and see your build - if a rivnut gets this much attention what has the car had?
