MIG Welder. How old is it?
I've been working at a small engineering workshop for the last few days, and hidden under a protective layer of dust sits a single phase MIG.
I think it's old, but little used, but as I can't find a similar one for sale on the net so I assume it's an old model and no longer
made.
Any one know anything about a Lincoln 210 ?
Must have a chat with the landlord down the pub later.

You can't get much better than Lincoln tackle. I used to use one at a friend's lorry yard and it is still going strong over 20 years
later.

If you look on scrapheap challenge they use Lincoln welders.

I have a Lincoln sp175 and its a great little machine - same as the ones you see on american hotrod/chopper.
Paid £200 for it second hand, though it had only had a few hours use.

The deal is done. 
Fits under the bench a treat.
Perhaps needs a new lead though, but OK for 300 quid.

Although I tried it out with pure argon (off my TIG set) I've been waiting for the "pub gas" to arrive.
The argon was a bit "globular" but at least proved all was well with the set.
5 o'clock yesterday evening my friendly local landlord pulled up the drive with a bottle in his boot. Yup, delivery as well.
No regulator, as the pub cylinders have a male thread. Bu**er.
A phone call to a mate and short drive later I was in business. The loan of one for a couple of days.
eBay to the rescue then. New one on order.
I was quite impressed with the CO2,
but then again, I'm very easily impressed.

You'll be even more impressed if you get an ar/co2 cylinder, much less spatter and a smoother flatter weld profile. I use co2 for a lot of jobs
though as the cylinder is more portable.

I hear what you're saying Pete but since this is a machine that will only get occasional use I'm trying to keep the costs down, i.e.
cylinder rental.
I have some railings to make so it's in at the deep end, 10 x 50mm flat to 20mm dia.
Welded the first section this morning and pleased with the results.
First pic is as welded, spatter and all, and in the second it's had a rub with a file and a rag.
The welder has volt settings 1 to 8 and wire speed 1 to 10.
The setting used was 6 and 5.5 (.8 wire) but I've no idea what amps that is.
With a new reg and a bottle of CO2 a total cost of £342.
I'm well happy.
