Hello,
I took the rose joints type thingys appart on my half shafts and theres 6 bearings that all came out relatively easy.
I did it by pushing the inner ring down one way then sliding the main outer one off but when i try and reverse the process it all comes back to gether
in place but has NO movement in it what so ever apparr from taking the whole thing appart and starting from scratch?
I really am pulling ma F**king hair out, help please?
Nath
They only go in one way.
The way they go in the easiest (bearing to bearing hole) is the wrong way!
You have to push the cradle round a bit and then you will find that the bearings all fall into place and give movement.
All of the above is from memory of quite a while ago and I've only ever done it once, but it sounds like youv'e fitted them the same way the
person whose car I was building had fitted them...

i had the same problem never could fix them luckly when my celler got flooded they managed to find there way down there and got replaced by the insurance
hahaha, i dont think thats an option, ive finished for the night and STILL couldnt get the little barstewards in properly.
cheers worX i'll keep at it in the week!
If this makes sense then I shall have a go. On the inner piece and the outer piece the ball bearing tracks are angled. When you reassemble them I find
it best to insert opposite balls and you must make sure that the bearing tracks that the balls run in (outer track and inner track) DO NOT run
parallel but the tracks MUST oppose each other in direction. (if that makes sense). I did mine the other day and on the last one despite taking care
for alignment still managed to get the tracks parallel and when I got the fifth ball in it locked it almost solid. Took me ages to get it apart and
start again.
I hope that the above makes sense.
Enjoy

yes, ta very much for your help lads, easy as pie answer starring you in the face.
Just to back up what was said heres how the tracks are supposed to run "opposing" and how I tried to put them in that locked them stiff.
lsd lbolt on shafts tracks
red dots on the left represent the bearings.
Thanks again.
