Yep - you were all right.
Tried it last night. got a hold of an old fashioned dumb battery charger and some lovely crystals and a tub of water.
Left it overnight until about half an hour ago.
One steering arm looking factory new.
I have indeed seen the light.

I originally tested it on the captive gearbox cross member brackets from under my Sierra and was amazed to see the ford logo and part number appears
if by magic on the new looking part.

if you find the swimming pool, let me know, i want to do my chassis as well

just a quick point on safety......................
and NO, its not about the process, but the effect on the parts!
On safety critical items that are not well over engineered (but most are for our applications on here) stick the parts in the over on a low/medium
heat for an hour or two after electrolysis cleaning.
The electrolysis liberates lots of hydrogen gas, which actually gets surface absorbed in solution on the surface of the steel/iron.
This causes hydogen embrittlement where the hydrogen agtually "jacks open" the steel/iron crystal structure.
now nobody, including me, is going to tell you how severe this might be, and how much can be tolerated, and I certainly elecrolytically clean my hubs
etc as its a great process, but for peace of mind, a stint in the oven shoves the hydrogen back out of the crystal structure and removes the
embrittlement.
