Plasma- can you cut aluminium?

Can you cut aluminium with a plasma cutter or is it just steel?

yes, but if your welding it make sure you dress the edges very very good, plasma leaves little under cuts just like cutting stainless etc.
Note, go faster and try test piece first.

Hi Doug

I just happen to have an off cut in the garage that was cut using a Lincoln inverter. (10mm thick)
Note the drilled hole for the start of the cut.
The surface would need machining before welding.

I always save bits like this as they tend to come in handy.

Ahh.. so it should fly through 3mm 1050 ally sheet.

My cheapy TIG has been in action every weekend since i bought it. Hows that flash miller going?

I will upgrade one day!

Sounds like you've no need to upgrade.

The millers fine. The fan came on the other day.
Must have the heating set too high in the garage.
