Anyone got a tool for tightening a sierra diff ?

Hi there,

Long shot, anyone got a tool for adjusting the crown wheel position on a Sierra diff.

Mines got a fair bit of backlash which I wish to remove but those lugs snap off if you give them a hard stare so a 'C' spanner is not any good as I have found out.

Cheers Mark

I always used two bits of flat (5 or 6mm?) mild steel strip, notched and welded together in a cross shape, with an old 1/2" drive socket slotted using the angry grinder, dropped over the strips and welded on.

Spreads the load over 4 lugs then.

Thanks all.

I have considered making a tool but before going to that amount of effort for a one off job thought I would try and borrow/hire one for a couple of pounds.

Regards Mark

Calvin, in answer to you question about tube, only the lower frame from drivers seat forward is square tube, every other tube is round tube. Easier to rivit and glue the floor.

The gallery shows inverted views, this shows better but as I do not want to mislead anyone I have amended the line that offended you

Got a mate making me one up as we speak. Need to take the diff apart to install a Quaife ATB.

If Id have had any idea what a PITA it was going to be, Id have sent it off to a specialist!
