Can anyone recommend a cheap stand for the R1?
I need to be able to rotate the engine.
It will also help me out with limited space in my garage!
I have looked at a cheap machinemart one (only £32) but the mounts are more for car engines.
I can buy this one and convert it but would prefer a ready made one.

those car engine stands are ideal, they are easily adapted to hold almost anything.. you just need some threaded bar of the same diameter and pitch as the R1 engine uses on it's engine mounts that you can cut down to size, and improvise some spacers and you'll easily get over the problem of engine mounts not being on the same plane, that you get on bike engines.. if that doesn't sound right, you can easily weld up a couple of pieces to connect the engine with the stand...

as far as bang for buck is concerned, the engine stand is by far the cheapest thing you can buy, for the price I paid for the last one, I can't even buy new material and wheels...

I thought as much!
I don't mind building cars, but building tools is something else!

As kikiturbo said they are ideal just put my R1 motor on my stand last weekend all you need is some threaded bar and some tube to make spacers.

Is it me or are you fabricating a turbo manifold in your kitchen???

Either you live in a house of trouser or you are a very brave man!

Just used 10mm threaded bar and some bits of 15mm tube with nuts on each end for the rear mountings
I will try and get some closer pictures later!

Garage19 it is a Kitchen the old one from the house now in my nice new extension / workshop on the rear of the garage and i had some tiles left as well

P.S I'm not brave enough to build an engine in the house again
