I guess it should be in this section as i need to know how to remove the interior door trim on the 330D tin top.
The bit in question is the trim and speaker that is obscuring the mounting nuts for the drivers mirror.
Does anyone know how to remove this speaker and trim?
An exploded diagram would be ideal if anyone can get hold of one?
mirror mount2
mirror mount3
mirror1
Also what kind of glue can i use to make a seriously strong bond to joun the bits of the mirror moulding back together?
cheers
I would suggest that speaker trim is held on with clips so would just pop off.
But may well break a few clips getting it off. It's a standard trick to help prevent home work of this kind. Or if they don't break, they may loosen.
the speaker housing and the black trim that goes up around the window is all one piece!
i cant see any obvious place to give it a pull!........ i guess that means that the designers have done their job correctly
Look out for blanking caps fitted on top of securing screws . Take your time and do not use excessive force . The lower part of the panel may be held in place by screws but normally (if no screws are apparent) held in place by plastic securing clips which don't normally break if you are patient. Failing that buy a book of lies
I have a BMW TIS. What year is it and model is it E??
Let me know and I'll have a look, no promises though!
(It's a bit difficult to navigate and cross references constantly)
Cheers

Hiya,
Its a 2003 (53 plate)
How do i determine what model it is ie E35 etc etc?
When im searching the net for info i get loads of different model references and i don't know what one to look at
Don't worry about breaking clips, they're cheap enough from main dealers, but literally pennies from your local bodyshop/paint suppliers
http://www.bmwland.co.uk/talker/viewtopic.php?t=7825 for brief history of the 3 series.
Might also be a good place to ask the trim question.
Mike
Right I have found all the information, but I don't know how to get it to you.
I can post my CD to you or try to post screen captures up here, or print it out, but it's 20 odd pages and I haven't got enough A4 paper to
do it!
Basically BMW manual in less than the 20 pages says:-
DO NOT DO THIS WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION (side air bags might go off)
Step one take all door trim off. Door panel first, then the black trim that goes right around, then the speaker cover itself (lots of warnings and
special tools mentioned) disconnect speakers, window switches etc.
Replace mirror, put it all back on!
If you U2U me your address I'll post you the CD, I think thats the best bet!
HTH
