I've looked high and low, don't really fancy a cheap chinese thing, anyone suggest good places for second hand tools such as a record no.4
or no.5 type vice?
Have checked ebay and missed one last night, but they don't seem to be lots on there and very often due to the weight people don't want to
post them, suprise, suprise!
Ned.
I've often seen decent Record vices at car boot sales - might be worth a visit...
David
Ned post one request in EBAYS wanted section......you may be suprised

Barrie,
I should be at stoneleigh most of the weekend (camping), are you going? if so you could have a deal
Ned.
Its very weather dependant want to come in the locost but its a long way if its raining: may come in the tin top though so
if your in no hurry Stoneleigh it is then
What make is it barry, just noticed you didn't say i nyour earlier post..
Ned.
ps no huge rush, chassis should be back from powder coaters friday, putting bench up tomorrow night, but away this weekend anyway!
I,ll check what names on it .I have put a picture on my archive.
hope it helps.
Why such a big vice for a locost. I have a record no.1 (amoungst other vices) which is a very hand size, jaws open to 3.25ich capacity.
New record vices (quality probably not as good as old record vices?) from machine mart start at £20
Ned
I started my RH build over 3 yrs ago. At the time I bought a 2nd-hand vice, a Record No 5, c/w original Record clamps (the nice steel/fibre ones)
I've given it some stick during my (as yet unfinished) build, including wheel stud changes etc. I found it at £20 in the local paper
miscellaneous ads - worth a look in that direction.

i got a 400 quid record 75 for a tenner out of the free ads
got a decent heavy duty record vice of ebay for £20ish ... they even posted it for £12 not bad considering the cost of a new one ! (>£500) I find
the quick release ones are really usefull too
