Does any one know where I can buy a real proper professional industrial tapping wrench the T handle type, I already have a so called professional tap wrench but it holds the tap at quite an angle and makes it tricky to get the tap at 90 degrees and all square

Cromwell will have one or someone similar. Or the great bay of flees, for an old s/h one .

Car boot sales are often a good source of old but decent tools for a bargain price. It may be worth looking at tap guides, easy to make if you have a lathe

Better a s/h M&W off eBay than a made in China.

I have used taps many times in my life and never found a good wrench.

Eclipse wrenches are usually ok. Getting taps square by 'eye' is often as good as anything. A good pilot hole helps.

A joiner's brace is a good alternative, the jaws are designed for square ended bits. I find it easier to use than a wrench, works well in confined spaces with the ratchet engaged.
