Sierra Rear Hub Nut Removal - Easy
Avoneer - 24/10/04 at 04:21 PM

Hi Guys,
Found an easy way to remove the rear hub nuts if they haven't been done whilst still on the car....
Cut off three sides of the nut - carefully - with a grinder or saw. Then belt it round using a cold chisel and hammer with the chissel edge strategically placed on the end of each newly cut flat edge.
Had both nuts off in ten minutes....
Hope that makes sense....

I used an old brake disc with a four foot lump of bar weled to it, bolted that to the hub, rested that on the floor and undone the nut with a socket and braker bar

Sounds like a good recipie for ground driveshafts.. I'm not that surgical with an angle grinder!

We took the route of dragging them to the local independent rover centre, exciting them with tales of our self built rover v8 mission, then saying "hey, couldn't stick your air impact wrench on these could you? look I've got a socket for it and everything". off in 5 minutes.
