first of all, i'll be using cellulose, so we won't be needing any lengthy disussions about what type of paint to use
a neighbours asked me to paint his bike tank, so while i'm ordering that, i want to get my own paint ordered too. i'm just going for a plain
white, vauxhall glacier white, or something similar, nothing fancy for now.
its a fairly big car, with a lot of body work, anyone got any estimates on how much to order?

will 2.5 litres be enough, or just pushing it? i bought 2.5 litres of filler primer, and i've sprayed most of the car, only a front wing and one
door surround type panel left to do, but i can't remember how much i have left.
5 litres seem a bit excessive, but paint only seems to come in 500ml, 1l, 2.5l or 5l

Id go with 5L (if its not stupid amounts dearer, cant imagine it would be as its a solid white) , just for the sake that you will likely do more layers than the primer, if you mess up you want enough so you dont have to buy more and use mixed batches and posssibly get a slight clour change, and it gives you some touch ups, repairs or addtions in the future.
Well if it's any help, I used around 2 1/2 litres of 2K on my Locost.
I'd go with 5L, I've used 10 on the E Type, but have painted underneath as well.
Try this guy for paint, he does deals on 5L + Top Gloss thinner
Linky
get 5L.
Buy from jawel or somewhere like that and they usually have a few whites at very good prices (ie van whites, I got some ford diamond white 2k very
cheap)
careful with "ready to use" paint as it is pre-thinned, so you would need 10L of that......

BTW they are good value for primer, thinners and all those expensive odds and sods, especially as postage gets cheap once you order a few bits.
depending on what class of finish your after it may be worth considering Jawels truckcoat paint, goes on well, and its tough as its designed for
eerrrr trucks! also its pretty cheap. Only available in solid colours but if you want white then its not an issue. Any white is going to need 2 or 3
coats as it will have a low pigment content so calculate accordingly, last time i bought truckcoat i think it was available in a 5 litre tin. Here you
go:

£32.50 for 5 litres.
HTH
lovely stuff! 5l it is.
i don't really want/need a show room finish, the bodywork is crap anyway, every panel was broken, so its more of a covering rather than a body
there's a few new panels on there, but white should hide the older ones
cheers
looking forward to seeing your car finished and on the road tbh. Road trip when done? ^_^

I bought 5l of cellulose to do a classic mini. Kept 1l just in case of any need for it in the future (and there was after an argument with a pick up truck!). 4l left me quite a few coats, meaning there was plenty of paint on it to mop a good finish.
We painted a single decker bus with 5 litres, it doubles with thinners.
the truckcoat is definatley what you need then, it covered a multitude of sins opn our old ford cargo race transporter.
