Hi there,

I've decided to sort my triggering problems out, once and for all.

So want to make a 32-1 trigger wheel for my suzuki engine from these two parts.

trigger_wheel_job

Basically make the 32 tooth wheel into a ring gear.
Turn down the stock Suzuki wheel.
Bit of heat/freezer to fit them,
then presumably check or tidy up to ensure its central.


Should be easy with a lathe, happy to pay a few quid, but keen to get it sorted ASAP.

Edited to add that the diameter of the whole assembly is 2inch diameter, so even a small one would do the job. They are both steel, but not the really hard kind ;-)

Would make sense to turn a shoulder onto them both so they "self jig" in both axis. And then apply a couple of spot welds to hold it all together?

That would be a 36-1 wouldn't it ? Could you take the centre out of the tooth wheel so it centres on the nut in the bike trigger then drill and tap to hold it in place using the bike one as a carrier ? You could slot the hole to give some adjustment then drill another to lock it when it's set right.

Not a very practical solution, but I have all you need in terms of a workshop machines in Scotland. If you get stuck then mail them to me!

Questions if you take up my offer

1) Are you shure both parts are steel try a magnet if not?

2) The gap in the toothed wheel, is it's position critical in relation to the other wheel?

I think tegwins suggestion is the correct one!
