Anyone recommend a good riv-nut tool ? dont want to spend silly money but not a cheap on that will break the first
time i use it ?

Memfast
I have had one of These for about 3 yrs, has pulled dozens of 6mm steel rivnuts and still ok.
I have one of these Rivnut Rivetnut Nutsert Fitting tool M4 M5 M6 Kit car | eBay
Pulls the insert up nice and square to the surface.
I've fitted a fair few with no problems this way
Make sure you use the serrated type rivnuts not the smooth, serrated ones are easier to pull into place and the serrations grip the metal.

I have the same as britishtrident and it is a really nice bit of kit - it's a little more fiddly than the normal type but gives you much better
control - I also have a normal (like large pliers) type.

and don't buy the CBS one, it did about 5 then the thread in the head stripped. pure sH1te

cheapest one they do if your doing only a few rivnuts, they have an excellent one if ur flush, and plan on rivnutting the world.
I also have one of the Silverline 'Pliers' type like 40 inches, but it is now on its last legs - the edges of the shoulder inside the head
have become chewed - the lugs which engage in this slot have splayed slightly, causing the chewing. However, it had fitted loads of rivnuts before
this started happening.
