You used to be able to buy ring spanners with a crank on them (see side profile below) I've not seen them for years. I need to tighten my
alternator pulley bolt which involves holding the shaft static with a 10mm ring spanner whilst tightening the nut up behind it, all inside the
confines of the pulley ! No socket or normal spanner going to work on this on. So autojumbles aside anyone seen these for sale lately ?

I looked everywhere for a set of those buggers and what do you know Machine Mart have them !!! Guess I didn't look hard enough.
Thanks
I needed a 17m version of one of those.
As far as I could remember the common name for them was 'swan neck' spanners.
Bloke in the go faster shop did'nt have a clue what i was going on about!

That's one hella big spanner.
That's what tool shops know them as. The only one I have is 7/16" and 3/8" AF. There was one bolt on the MK1 Escort that I couldn't reach with anything else
I bought a cheap set of metric spanners like this from Lidol for about £5. They have paid for themselves many times over and i have only broken
one.
I changed the timing belt on a citroen BX a job i was told was a major hassle, but managed no problems as i could reach the tensioner bolts etc easily
with the cranked spanners.
