joining small metal rod?
02GF74 - 19/8/09 at 07:24 AM

Need to lengthen my choke cable, solid rod in metal spiral tube.

Also needs to be disassemblable.

Thinking of attempting to drill a short length of round brass bar* with two screw in side to hold the rod or elase make 2 clamping plates.

Any other ideas?

* easier said than done without a lathe.

(I will be getting new choke cable just don't have time before the weekend).

Could you use the metal bit from a chocolate block wire connector?? They come in various sizes, should find one suitable. Or does it need to slide inside the spiral?

yeah, coupling sleeve is what I have in mind but £ 3

I know, not a lot but that would be better off going towards new choke cable.

Good call, forgot that I saw Maplins selling them.

Re: previous post - the outer has a stop at first carb, the join needs to be in between the 2 carbs, loads of room and just hold the 2 pieces of rod together.

At a push I guess I can wrap wire and solder, it should only be on for a week or so.

and that is what I've done. a short length of gardening wire to join up the second carb, and it works too.!
