i went to get some sika flex, someone said you get it from B&Q, which it about 40mins drive drom here. is this the right stuff? i couldn't
find anything that said sika flex on it
sika
also someone on here said i can use it to stick my trigger wheel to the front pully oin the car. is this true, or was he taking the wee?
Wouldn't like to have my trigger wheel come off the pulley at 7,000 RPM ! I made sure mine was well secured. Can't help with the stuff you have but would suggest asking your local car paint suppliers , they are likely to stock proper Sikaflex. Got my last tube from Unipart
well, i wouldn't like it coming off either! thats why i wasn't sure.
can't think of any paint suppliers round here
A good Pu from any paint or car spares place.
I would in no way use it as the only faster for the trigger wheel
When dry it has some give like rubber not hard like epoxy.
ok, so i can get it from a car paint place, but what about the stuff i've got?
The grade of Sikaflex normally used for bonding panels is 221.

I certainly wouldn't want a ninja death star popping through the nosecone
Trigger wheel definately needs the minimum of a bolt through it as it would make a fair exit hole before potentially making an equally impressive entry hole in someone or something
I would only use PU on stuff that when it falls off is not likely to kill anyone

Rob
Give the boys at MAC1 a ring re the sikaflex.
I phoned them on a Thursday afternoon, and the tubes arrived on a Friday morning!
Top product, top service.

quote:The stuff you have there is clearly made by sika, and is an adheasive/sealer but from the datasheets above it doesnt apprear to be polyuerthene (PU) based.

Looks like this stuff.
on the left page 10 i think
Or this which it says is PU hybrid high strength sealer/adhesive
[url=http://www.sika.co.uk/uk-home/uk-con/uk_construction-builders-merchants/uk_construction-adhesives-sealant-fillers.htm]Fifth one down
Most SIKA sealer /adhesive stuff sticks like poo to a blanket I'm sure this will be fine. try it on a bit of scrap first and see.

^ looks like a 'new improved' sika flex then?
i don't know..
having looked at the data sheets, i think its more than up to the job since its only 1/4 the price of the stuff from Merlin i'm going to
use it
Being as your on an Island, try your local marine dealer for Sikaflex.

A trigger wheel is going to be spinning about itself, and won't have enough potential energy to do any real harm. If it was really heavy maybe, but even then it wouldn't go very far, probably just drop off and land in the road.
Dream on. Anything letting go at even 3,000 RPM can cause an awful lot of damage/injury I have seen fan blades exit a bonnet before and it's scary whet damage they can do . A trigger wheel coming loose after being put on with Sikaflex will come loose from one point on its circumference and fly off at a tangent . I for one would not like to be in the firing line!
