cheapo ebay plasma cutter - recommended
Hi,
Just thought I'd give some consumer related feedback about an "ebay special" plasma cutter I just bought.
After off-loading some other junk on the bay I treated myself to a plasma for my ZX12 Mini project. (There's alot of rust believe me)
Anyway, back to the plasma. Just give it a wurl in the garage and it does an excellent job. The 12mm stated cutting thickness is a little optimistic
but it flies through anything up to about 6mm, and I mean flies !!!!! Flimsy Rover Mini sheet metal and aluminium are no match for it
Basically as quick as undoing a zip
Very little dross on the reverse edge, but it gets better with speed practice and smoothness.
Ditch the cheapo welding mask and chipping hammer that comes with it. Otherwise its a tidy bit of kit.
Took just under a week from Germany from these guys, werkzeuge-online.
Suspect its of chinese origin as most things are these days.
No good for cutting up oil-rigs or oil tankers etc but a bloody good DIY tool. The prices do inevitably vary on the bay, so keep an eye out for a
finishing auction in the weee hours or when everyones watching Corrie!
My tuppence worth for anyone considering.

Excellent - what size compressor are you using when running it?

If you believe you're not crazy, whilst everybody is telling you, you are - then they are definitely wrong!

I got a decent, but not huge 150litre 9 bar Ingersoll, running at about 11CFM.
A smaller one should power it easy over shorter cutting distances. Its so fast that its literally seconds per cut. If you use a blow gun for blasting
swarf out of holes you'l be ok with whatever you got I think. Just don't use one of those teeny weeny Lidl types to power it.

I treated myself to a Rehmann unit for xmas.
Not had much of a chance to play with it but seems to live upto the specs
