Reading the Ad, I'd say about £100. The Ad suggests it'll need re-wiring + new brakes and fuel hoses.

What a fantastic opportunity to give something back to the man that inspired so many of the builds on this site.
Does anyone know anything about online fund raising? If enough of us donated a small amount maybe we could buy it and give it to one of the motor
museums.
What do you think?

I was just coming on to see if anyone had shared this.
Obviously needs anything perishable replacing, and is tame power wise compaired to many on here, but also was slice of history!

Can someone please post the picture for those of us not on Friendface? What is the sale price?
Worth sending the link to the Haynes Museum? Shame John Haynes is no longer with us and Haynes seem to publish not as much automotive stuff these
days.

No price on it,it is the car that's on the front cover of the Locost build manual.
Still looks exactly the same!

I am reluctantly having to dispose of the very first Locost, built for my teenage son nearly 30 years ago. He used it for the first few months until
he got into Locost racing with.the 750 M.C. It's sat in my garage ever since. However every few months I have started the engine and run it up
to temperature, and it still starts on the button and runs like a sewing machine. But the years have taken their toll, the clutch is seized as is the
brake master cylinder / servo, although the tyres are unused, I wouldn't risk them on the road, but fine for loading into a trailer. But the
final straw for me is that mice have chewed the wireing loom and rubber components like fuel and brake pipes. I have stripped out the wireing and hot
wired the ignition and fuel pump so it now starts and runs. Thankfully the mice did not touch the seats which are Caterham items.
Like the car the years have taken their toll on me, and I am no longer able to undertake the repairs and recommisioning.
When the book was finished my son upgraded the spec of the car with LOTUS alloy wheels, genuine LOTUS badges and other stuff.
I am open to the best offer in my mind I think the reserve is the value of the following parts as follows. 1098 M.G. Midget engine and gearbox. Alloy
wheels (5) from a Mk1 Lotus Cortina. Perfect Caterham seats. Caterham windscreen. Alloy fuel tank. Mk1 Escort rear axle. Mk3 Cortina front discs and
calipers. And all the other bits.
If unsold in a couple of weeks, it's then E.bay. Viewing any time by appointment car is located in Peterborough.

Thanks for posting the picture and description from the advert.
I have just emailed the curator of the Haynes Motor Museum (https://www.haynesmuseum.org/contact-us ) to say this car is available and that it would
make a great exhibit and I would be happy to contribute to crowdfunding to help this.
They just need some MkII Escort steel wheels to get it back to as built and could sell the Lotus alloys to offset the cost. It looks relatively
untouched so an ideal exhibit.
I would love to see details under the bonnet and transmission tunnel of the A Series engine and gearbox install.
It’d be great if it could be in the Haynes Motor Museum as this started a global movement of people building these cars which still goes on today,
both for the road and in the UK for a 750 Motor Club Race Series too. This would be a nice link to John Haynes’s early days publishing books on
building Ford specials and Austin Seven specials, and his building of them himself, as well as the Locost and Haynes Roadster building books.
