Its:
Noisy (Loud)
Drity (Covers the garage with gritty black shite)
Sparky (Fire risk)
Edges need cleaning up afterwards...
However, its quick.
Doing it again, I wouls splash out on a steel Band Saw... Quieter, and less mess.
especially if you use a cutting lubricant / fluid
Good job I only paid £28 (was New) for mine off Ebay. (I was the only bid... which surprised me)
I think he lost a bit on that deal, as he had to "Send" it three times before I Got it. Trader as well.. But did send in the end when I
threatened to report the poor service to the group he belonged to. (Square Deal Traders or simmilar).
I have a metalcutting bandsaw, and will be buyiny a chop saw shortly!!
The cheap bandsaws are utter crap, for gods sake don't buy the cheap chinese one that clarke and everybody sells for around £180. I have one and
it eats blades because it has no coolant system, and if you put coolant on it it jams the guide rollers. The blade comes off the wheels if it jams for
more than a nanosecond, and it is almost impossible to get it cutting straight (3-4 hours work shimming it up to account for crap chinese machining
and casting!)
You get what you pay for, but there's less to go wrong on the abrasive cutoff saw, and I will just to the cutting outside to avoid the dust and
other issues.
You need to spend £700 on a bandsaw to get one that actually does a proper job.
