I do! How do you check the mixture otherwise, especially with carbs?

fesycresy - 13/6/14 at 03:04 PM

What's a 'carb'?

They are like fuel injection that you can fix when it goes wrong.

I always went with 'if it smells right & sound it'll be close enough'
then take it to the garage down the road to use the gas analyser when I get the chance...

mind you I'm red green colour blind - so those things would be no good to me anyway lol

I already have one, have reserved three more Can you imagine how much easier is to set carbs with all of them fitted at once

I have a Lucas Gas analyser, but the four carbs need setting up individually initially.

I'd be interested to hear how close you can get a match on 4 pots with just visual feedback. Used to own one of these but I could adjust the mixture and the timing so far without being able to see a difference it was mental.

It goes wrong? How quaint.

The trouble with colour tunes though is that you can only really tune the idle mixture, I did have one years ago but never really found it much use apart from idle adjustments.
