These guys are the best around, but it will be proper triple plated stuff, and priced accordingly -
expensive - but also good value.

We use/d them ^^^^^ ( for our business) they started off producing excellent quality chroming, the last few batches, massive price increase.....
with the quality very bad........not impressed!.......
Currently looking for another firm ....

Let us know if you find someone else good then Fozzie, as I'm after some quality chroming....
Apparently there is a firm in Bristol - but I've never used them?? Ah - found them - S&T electroplating in Bristol - don't think they
have a website.... also don't know if they are really any good!

Will do Chris!
My current thinking is to research a few firms and send a few bits to each, and see what comes back......
Sadly I do know that with the chemicals that have to be used, and current 'elf an' safety regs, many plating firms are not doing chroming
these days, so they are becoming fewer....
The sceptic in me feels that the guys at London Chroming did a fine job.......at a price.....until they had 'got' our business,
that's when the quality started to drop, and turn around times got greater........and I will not compromise on quality......
If anyone else (mainland UK) has any recommendations I would be very interested to 'try' them.......
Macbeast.........you may be 'lucky' with the firm that Chris (^^^) mentioned, but I can second that they will be expensive.....

Thanks Fozzie, thanks Chris.
Interestingly there is a brilliant MG specialist next to where I'm building (I can heartily recommend them if anyone wants MG stuff done ) and I
asked the boss if he knew of any chromers.
He said the one you mentioned in London, but also said they were not that brilliant - expensive and suspect quality.
He doesn't get anything re-chromed now, just buys new parts from China

Pity you forgot to have the brake pipes done
Did you have that done in Erith ?

The problem with chroming is that unless it looks rubbish straight away - you can't tell for a few years whether it's been done
properly....
Reproduction parts for old cars (with a few exceptions I'm sure) don't look right and don't fit right, and doing something right is
pretty important to me! So I will try to find a decent chroming company, but Fozzie is right, they are being regulated out of existence
unfortunately.

Island Electroplaters down here do good work, for the overners across the Solent in England as well!
They give you what you ask for. Best as I was told by the boss is, passivate>copper>nickel->chrome>polish. They'll do any
combination, as cheaply and quickly or full price and top quality.
May be a bit far though.
Cheers,
Syd.
