Small alternator
I somehow have to fit my alternator in here
And i think it might need more than a new alternator bracket.
Has anyone got a small denso alternator i can have for a few ££?

That looks a tidy build from the small part of the car shown in the pic. The pick up points for the alternator look very low even for a nippon denso
alternator. May need a modified bracket?

Can you not put that bracket on the other way up?
We made our own bracket so it put the alternator higher and where the Chassis clearences where bigger.
We used a bolt in the tapped hole above that mounting as the tensioner for the alternator in its new position.

those brake hoses will not pass SVA - they need to be the crimped type. (there is exception in the manual, something about an internal support that
you would have to prove to the SVA man).
back onto the topic- how much room on the other side?
also take into account any engine movement so the alternator will not be knocking o nthe chassis rails.

Those brake hoses have the inner support tubes (they are the euroquip fittings from rally design) and i have some spare end fittings to show the sva
man. I will also have a covering note from GTS to say they are SVA ok.
I will be taking into account the engine movement. Though I might get some uprated engine mounts which are stiffer to stop the engine moving too
much.

are the fittings marked? to cut a long story short, I discussed with SVA man about this and he said there is no proof that the fittings you present
are the same as those iftted; only sure way is crimps (goodridge or oem rubber hoses). the letter also has to be from the manufacturer. No dout
this will vary according to tester.
since then I have bought another set of braided hoses, from RD, that are goodridge and have letter from G so I should have no hassle.
It's a right pain. The requirement being that the hoses are tamperproof; SVA man admited that even with the crimp type hoses they can be
tampered by undoing the union.

My car went through SVA with those fitting/hoses no problem.

I had similar challenge with mine albeit with engine sitting further back than std. Solution was Micra alternator and Mac#1 alternator bracket. Works
a treat. Belt is easy too - use old belt cut and shutted to get approx length, trip down to Halfords as they are all out on a rack. Buy a few around
the length you need. In garage fit till you find right one (keeping others clean) and take back the ones you dont need.
Far easier than trying to make your own bracket.
