Exhaust can wanted.

Morning. Does anyone have a good chrome silencer going cheap? 2 inch inlet for mounting on the passenger side?

Cash waiting.

Dan I am also looking for the same. If you want ready to fit then thay are fetching good money on ebay, more than I want to pay at the min

I have two locost ideas but both will need a small amount of fabing.

First one is a standard bike can. And the second is THIS It just needs the curved outlet pipe and a mounting bracket.

Let us know what you think as im still pondering....

Warren,
THIS is listed as 13.75" X 26" if the 13.75 is the dia of the can then it's bloody huge! No wonder he says make sure it will fit under your car!

Im the same mate. Was watching the westie one but it went for more than i have in my bank.

That car one on ebay would look good but if its the one ive seen before its way too fat.

Some bike ones arnt rounded enough on the ends for sva. I am looking at this route.

We need 907 to make us a couple up

Second that Dan

I think you would find thats the circumfrance bkloco if you look at the pic it tells you inlet/outlet 2" and the dia looks no more than 3 times that. I reckon about 6" but ill ask.

Bkloco have them plugs arived yet m8?

Were they from you Warren?
In a Jiffy bag covered in parcel tape?
A set arrived today but I bought a set from e-bay for 99p and I wasn't sure if they were those.
I was waiting for an address for you so I could send a beer token.
I've got all the plugs now plus some extras except one.
I can't find the one for the fast idle valve yet. Ford it seems use whatever they have handy at the time. so far I've seen 4 different types none of which are like mine

By the way if that exhaust can is 6" dia then the circumfrancewould be 18"+
13.75 is about 41/2" dia so I can't imagine what he's measured.

That can looks short to me. I think 13.75 is the length.

I have a R & D can that's got a dent in it.

2" inlet, 150 mm dia, body 600 mm long, (+bend +inlet)

The mark is the opposite side to the outlet, so it would be against the side of the car. see pic 2

No mount at the moment.

It was an experiment in double skinning that turned out no quieter than a single skin.

£50 ?

I've just got a very nice Westfield one off ebay. Only 57 quid. Come to think of it I seem to remember you bid 35 for it. Came with heat shield and fitting kit. Getting on for 300 quid in Westfield catalogue.

I emailed the ebay seller of the s/s boxes that warren (big_wasa) added to the thread to ask about the size, the seller has now revised the listing to make it a boit clearer.

The box/can is 13.75" long and the diameter is 5.5"

I'm thinking the box is a bit short

I spent ages looking for car type silencers that were cheap, but all were to short or to small a diameter.
I eventually used the ends from an MGB back box and made my own outer casing from 18 gauge ally rolled and riveted at the seam on the bottom, i used some 50mm perf tube to extend the original inner pipe and riveted the ends on after packing with loft insulation.
The result was quite good for a while but eventually the rivets started to come loose so a mk 2 is now needed.
I tried a micron carbon bike can for a while , it gave good power but was to noisy to drive any distance without earplugs.

I'm looking at doing a twin exhaust system that will exit at the rear (if everything goes to plan), so i'm on the lookout for a pair of exhaust cans the same.
cheers

Nice looking can. Hope it's quiet enough for SVA cos it's half length of many standard ones.
