wtb: R1 or blade

while I was hoping to put this off until a bit later, im now looking for a suitable engine for the car, im after an R1 of any flavour (carb/EFI, not fussy)

ebay is blank, and have mailed Colibriman who will hopefully give me a shout if he gets more in.

in the meantime, anyone know of any other good sources, or seen some recently?

only got about 1200-1300 for engine including necessary mods...

will consider other similar spec engines but i'd want it to be as easy to install!. (no dry sumps!)

cheers,
Rog

another for you guys to consider is the Fazer1000 engine..it fits better under a bonnet too as the carbs and airbox are different from the R1 setup.
Torque is developed lower in the rev range..still 143bhp.

Athoirs (Andy) has one.....

and I'm selling one...

top engine.. just about the same power output as a R1..same exhaust manifold... same mounts at the rear and it fits under the lowest hood with airbox oh and the clutch is better as well. Rescued attachment car insure 006.jpg

just a bump as im still looking.
The fazer would do me fine but the mounts are different to an r1 and I cant weld. - i'd have to get a mouting cradle off Marc at MNR for an engine hes already fitted and he hasnt done a fazer.

so im still looking for any R1, and also widening the search to include recent Fireblade's if anyone has any!

cheers!

A good source for various bike engines. Try this

Engines

Last time I looked there were stacks of R1's. Just click on classifieds and choose engine.

For all things Fireblade and installing them in cars, then contact Andy Bates at AB Performance. Tel. 01284 703101

He's an ex British sidecar champion and knows everything there is to know about the 'blade engine in its various guises.
He sells complete packages for BEC installations including uprated Barnet clutches, baffle plates, looms, gearchange mechanisms etc.

If you do ring him, give yourself a good 45 mins free time as it'll be one of the most informative conversations you'll ever have!

Andy.
