Roll hoop / Cage for Locost Chassis
As per title, I'm looking for a roll hoop or cage to fit a Locost Chassis. Bolt in or weld in.
Looked at fabricators in my area, but they all want fortunes and eons to do the work. I'm cheap and inpatient so I thought I'd see what
was lying aound on people garage floors.
Cheers
Steve

What sort of price are you getting that you think is too much?
Are you after an MSA/RAC spec one?

Is not so much the price as the time, the 2 fabricators I have spoken to are up to their eyeballs and can't get to me for a few months. I really
want to get something on before I get much further with the build to avoid remakes due to interference issues.
Car is a road car that may see the occasional track day, so am not worried about getting it to 'book' spec, but obviously do want
something that will offer decent prevention in the event of a talent failure.

Try http://www.tube-bender.co.uk/roll_cage.html
Not used them myself yet, but others have had good results.

I used an MX5 roll bar, cut about 4" out of the middle to make it narrower to fit the Locost, fitted about 30cm of 5mm seamless down the centre,
drilled either side to 'spot' weld in a few places, then seam welded around the butt joint.
I already had the roll bar but never fitted it to the MX5 so it was a nice cheap option
It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......

I have a pair in my my archive which are painted black £25 + p&p for the pair. The have plates on the bottom and if trimmed these woul bolt into
the floor and be tall enough or could be cut to suit.

I got mine from Martin Keenan of MK fame, who having sold the company, now works from home and his extensive garages.
