Throttle position sensor
I am in need of a throttle position sensor to fit onto a shaft with 2 flats on it.
Anyone know of anything which is a standard fit component on a production car? Or inded where I could get one from otherwise? I have found the sensors
with a male shaft, but no female ones.

ford sensors will work, think escort and cosworth v6, both have said fittings.

HI Dave, try Dave Walker @ Emerald, he uses female ones, think only 1 flat but not sure.

Thanks.
ETA it also needs to suit a shaft which rotates clockwise looking at the shaft
As I assume they are directional otherwise they would count the wrong way!

That looks like it doesnt turn with the shaft all the time, i.e has some free play in each direction?

Normally they are spring loaded. The picture there is very similar (although it looks bigger) than gsxr1000 ones. The spring loading avoids any
slack, I think it is one of the standard ways of doing it.

There spring loaded so the spring takes up the slack, ive used one in the past with no problems but it depends on the direction of rotation that you
require.RS Components also do some shaft fitting potentiometers the same as the ones supplied by emerald etc.

Thanks, I looked on RS and couldnt see anything suitable. Will look in the catalogs tomorrow though.
I *think* I need one for clockwise shaft rotation, will check it out though.
I could of course get one from caterham, but I bet they are a fortune! Waiting for a mail reply from them too.

I used the Ford TPS on my twin webbers, I bought some polymorph (a low melting point plastic compound) off the beloved ebay and filled the hole then
using a dremmel cut a new slot in the plastic for the webber spindle to sit in
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone

Just reverse the outer 2 connections to change the direction it reads,

Got a price from Caterham, £35 for the proper one to fit. So not too bad really.
