WTD: 4x4

Im after a budget 4x4 for messing around in the snow. Needs to be roadworthy, but not worried if it needs work.

Anyone local got an old frontera etc for a couple of hundred quid?

Kindest Regards,
Richard.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Frontera for offroading??

If looking for cheap fun offroad then maybe a Suzuki SJ would be a better bet.

Series Land Rover, best for offroading, plenyt about, cheap to buy and cheap spares ...if you can put up with the archaic ride and don't expect many creature comforts, then you cannot beat them.

My 1975 ex military Landy brought me in to work today.

Frontera wasn't bad offroad and SJs tend to be either already destroyed or stupidly expensive

Cheeky bugger!
Nothing used to make my day like towing range rovers out of mud at off road days at bures mud pit in my fronty
Of course it was mostly down to the huge alligator tyres but still made me smile).

(its not jsut for the snow) - dont tell the missus....

I drive to wales a bit for work, so i want something that will get me there and back in one piece.

Fronteras are very good off road im told, and i had an old landrover (Ex-MOD) 90 which went everywhere i pointed it, even 1:2 gradients offroad. IT had a winch and everything. I miss it

So there we have it.

Im not in work today because i cant get anywhere near the main road, and the schools are closed!

Kindest Regards,
Richard.

Judging by the speed they were ploughing past me at 5am this morning on a very snowy A23 you'd be better of in a white ford transit, they obviously hold the road much better than a 4x4.

My Kia Sportage is a 4x4, although I did forget the fact and sat with the back end buried up to the diff in sludge one day, put it in 4 wheel drive and just drove out of the hole I'd dug for myself (pretending that I'd meant to do it all along)

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
