Wtd. A couple of Toyota items

Hi All

I'm collecting the parts together for my rather silly conversion (MR2 into MGB) and I'm struggling to find 2 major items.

Does anyone have any sugestions as to where I might be able to get a sump & pick-up pipe and bellhousing to fit Toyota Corona/Celica 1S/2S or ST140/ST141 rwd 1982 to 1985ish from, I've been told these will fit straight on to a 3SGE block and enable mating to a W58 gearbox.

Beleive it or not but Toyota still have the bellhousing but it's not very locost at about £250 (apparently you can build a whole car for that)

Any help gratefully accepted

Nick

Edited to add:-

Is anybody interested in a tuned MGB engine & O/D gearbox.
Peter Burgess head, V fast road cam, Weber, LCB exhaust manifold ETC.
Drop me a line for full-spec.
This engine really does transform the B.

Nothing silly about that, I've just put a Zetec & MT75 box in an MGB, its made a cracking car but just too small for me so I've sold it.

IMO the MGB engine is underpowered, overweight, and with the limitted tuning opportuinities and fit for nothing more than anchoring boats to. I know the purists will say the tuning potential is endless, but my zetec is 2cc smaller, produces in the order of 150 bhp, reliably, try finding a B series that can do that.

Can't help with the bits, but here's my build log happy to help where I can.

I agree about the "B" series being under powered but the one I'm removing has 100bhp at the wheels (130 at the flywheel) and instead of wheasing its way towards some rpm it flies to my 6k self imposed red line, so quickly it took me by suprise 1st time I really gave it some .
But the next stage gets very very expensive and the thought of 170+bhp and 8,000 rpm with Jap reliability just makes me let alone £130 for the MR2 engine and Supra box.

I don't know how much difference it'll make but I'm looking forward to its next trackday and the expressions on peoples faces when this slightly tatty "B" goes past them even quicker than it used to, 1:30 laps at Snett.

I have been watching your progress, wish I could be bothered to make my bodywork look as good as yours, I do love OEW. I bet the Zetec and 5 speed was lovely on the road, did you change the rear axle ratio?

No I left the axle ratio alone, but rebuilt it, works very well with the revier zetec.

Hi there. I have done this 3SGE RWD conversion for my Spyder Silverstone. Its the Rev3 version, fitted with Megasquirt V3 for ignition and Coil on Plug.
I sourced a suitable bellhousing from NZ until the sale fell through. I searched in vain for one in the UK and eventually decided to modify my 2TG version. Lots of machining later it fitted perfectly. Uses the T50 gearbox which is just about up to the job but won't stand much abuse with 170bhp.
It wont be easy to find a bellhousing to suit the w series boxes in the UK so I would suggest modifying one that is available.
Go and look on the TOYMODS site from NZ. Lots of info there.
There are lots of issues to consider inc starter motor position, suitable clutch plate,....
If I was starting again I would get an ex-Altezza 3SGE with six speed box and transplant the lot.
It could be worth finding an Altezza box on its own.
Do your homework BEFORE starting off. I wish I had!
Geoff.

Mmmm thanks for your replies, I,ve been doing "homework" for a couple of months now. I'm fairly sure I know what bits are going to fit now it's just a matter of locating them without spending a fortune.
I was hoping there would be someone here who might have said "O yes there is a Toyota breakers here or a specialist there" that I've not managed to find yet after hrs and hrs of Google/Yahoo/follow a link here and follow a link there.

The Aussies/NZs (Toymods,Toysport,Oz-Clubbies,club4age etc) do have plenty of advice but searching for parts there has proven as dificult as finding them here.

Hoping to use Megasquirt with edis and coilpack but with a set of bike bodies I picked up last week (for £36).
